The ACCUPRO 12178830 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and composite materials. Built from micrograin carbide with an nACRo finish, it delivers wear resistance and heat reduction at the cutting edge. The 2-flute geometry and 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge cutting. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. At 0.3125 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, this tool fits standard collet-style and end mill holders used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and similar metal-cutting equipment. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling passes. The nACRo coating extends tool life when machining alloy steels, stainless steel, and similar hard materials. The 5/16-inch shank diameter mates directly with standard ER collets and end mill holders in that bore size. It is sold individually and is appropriate for shop floor, production, and maintenance machining work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any machine tool accepting a 5/16-inch shank end mill via ER collet, end mill holder, or equivalent workholding.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine guarding procedures. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 5/16-inch shank before seating. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or burrs before tightening. Follow the machine manufacturer torque specifications for the holder style in use — do not over-tighten set-screw holders, as this can damage the shank.
