The ACCUPRO 12178805 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features an 11/16 inch (0.6875 inch) mill diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3/4 inch shank diameter, giving it a compact, rigid profile suited to CNC machining centers and manual mills. The two-flute spiral geometry and 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation, particularly in slotting and peripheral milling. The nACRo coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Total overall length is 3 inches, and the tool weighs approximately 0.25 pounds.
This end mill is suited for use in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish consistency are required. It is commonly installed on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for the majority of machining setups. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface speeds compared to coarser-grain carbide grades, making it appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous materials where fine finishes are needed.
Designed as a standard shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with 3/4 inch tool holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the tool holder bore and shank are clean and free of burrs or chips before seating the end mill. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm the tool is seated correctly. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speed, feed, and depth-of-cut recommendations appropriate to the workpiece material.
