The ACCUPRO 12178788 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) cutting diameter and a 40-degree helix angle, delivering smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces across a range of materials. The micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to high-speed and finish-milling applications. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and spiral flutes, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in job shop and production settings.
This end mill fits standard 5/16 inch collets and tool holders and is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. It suits applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a fine surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The nACRo coating provides additional lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry, making it suitable for pocket milling and drilling-style entry cuts.
Compatible with standard 5/16 inch tool holders and collet chucks used in CNC and manual milling machines. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for applications requiring a 17/64 inch square end mill with a 5/16 inch shank.
Installation is performed by machinists using an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered off and locked before changing tooling. Verify collet runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and reduce accuracy. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and coating type.
