The ACCUPRO 12178743 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and engineered plastics. It features a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 3/16 inch shank diameter, giving it a compact profile suited for tight-clearance work. The nACRo finish improves lubricity and heat resistance at the cutting edge. With a 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, this tool generates efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The 2-inch overall length keeps deflection low during side-milling passes. Typical applications include finish passes on small features, keyway cutting, and detail work in mold and die components. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface speeds than standard carbide grades, making it a practical choice for shops running modern CNC equipment.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill compatible with any CNC machining center, vertical mill, or manual milling machine equipped with an ER collet, end mill holder, or similar tooling system accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or lockout state before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling.
