The ACCUPRO 12178719 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. Built with 7 flutes and a 0.03 inch corner radius, it reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish on contoured profiles. The AlTiN coating provides high heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length, this single-end centercutting tool suits plunge, slot, and profile milling applications. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for high-speed machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials where corner integrity and tool longevity are priorities. The 7-flute geometry increases feed rates compared to standard 4- or 5-flute tools, making it effective for semi-finish and finish passes. The variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during cut, improving dimensional accuracy. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock tool holders used on vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter in standard ER collet chucks, milling chucks, or side-lock holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer and torque the collet nut or set screw per the holder specification. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
