The ACCUPRO 12178711 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. With a 1/2 inch cutting diameter and a 0.02 inch corner radius, it produces controlled edge breaks and radius profiles on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Seven flutes and a 37-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality at elevated feed rates. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments including hardened steels and stainless alloys. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general precision machining install this tool in standard 1/2 inch toolholders.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations where a corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations at part edges. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, and the right-hand spiral flute direction is compatible with conventional CNC machining center setups. With a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, it handles moderate-depth cavities and contoured profiles in production and prototype environments alike. The variable index flute spacing helps suppress chatter during aggressive cuts.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling choice for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 1/2 inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic chucks requiring a single-end corner radius end mill.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut cycle, and confirm feed and speed parameters match the workpiece material and depth of cut.
