The ACCUPRO 12178704 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 2-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length with a 1 inch shank diameter. The 7-flute spiral geometry runs at a 37.5-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention required for production-rate milling. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production floor settings.
This end mill suits roughing and finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where high flute count and a rigid shank are needed. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, giving operators flexibility for slot milling, profiling, and pocket work. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC vertical milling setups. The AlTiN finish makes it well-suited for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting in hardened steels and stainless alloys where heat generation is a concern.
Designed as a direct-mount solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 1 inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style tool holder accepting a 1 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify that the holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and confirm runout with a dial indicator before starting a production cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
