The ACCUPRO 12178699 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) finish, this tool delivers excellent heat resistance and wear life in ferrous and hardened materials. The 5/8 inch diameter cutter features 7 flutes with a 37.5-degree spiral helix angle, producing smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter at aggressive feed rates. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. At 6 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch length of cut, this end mill is suited for reach-critical pocketing and profiling operations. It weighs approximately 0.961 pounds.
This end mill is intended for use in production machining environments operated by machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 3-1/8 inches, makes it well suited for deep cavity milling, tall workpiece profiles, and multi-setup part programs where standard-reach tooling cannot reach the floor of a feature. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is compatible with conventional CNC machining center spindles. The AlTiN coating performs best in dry or minimal-lubrication high-speed machining of steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank toolholder, collet, or end mill adapter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm toolholder bore tolerance is compatible with the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001/-0.0004 inches before seating. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to avoid premature edge failure. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
