The ACCUPRO 12178691 is a 7-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-efficiency milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 7/8 inch length of cut, it delivers aggressive material removal while maintaining tight tolerances. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and wear resistance, and the AlTiN coating adds heat resistance for extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. A 37.5-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals including hardened steels, stainless alloys, and cast iron where a high-flute-count geometry is preferred for finish passes or semi-finishing operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional vertical machining center spindles. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet and end mill holder systems, making it a direct drop-in for most tool holding setups on 3-axis and 4-axis CNC mills.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers. No specific machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full grip depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer to avoid pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning a cut; excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on a high-flute-count tool.
