The ACCUPRO 12178687 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles hardened steels, stainless alloys, and high-temperature alloys where tool life and edge retention matter. The 5/8 inch diameter cutter carries five flutes with a 0.06 inch corner radius, a 40-degree helix angle, and variable index geometry that reduces chatter and harmonics during extended cuts. It is a single-end, centercutting design with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and CNC programmers in production shops and job shops select this tool for profiling, slotting, and finishing passes that require a controlled corner blend.
This end mill is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous machining operations in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a 5/8 inch straight shank is the standard toolholder interface. The 2-1/2 inch length of cut supports side-milling and deep-pocket work without excessive overhang. The 5 inch overall length gives clearance for medium-depth setups. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance at high surface speeds, making this tool a practical choice for dry or near-dry machining environments where coolant is limited or absent. It is not configured for extended reach applications.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with 5/8 inch toolholders, collet chucks, or end mill holders accepting a straight shank.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before spindle engagement. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before mounting. Do not exceed the toolholder's rated runout tolerance, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and reduce corner radius accuracy.
