The ACCUPRO 12178682 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and five flutes, this tool is built for rigidity and chip evacuation in deep-reach applications. The AlTiN coating provides oxidation resistance and hardness retention at elevated temperatures, making it well suited for dry or high-speed machining of ferrous materials and hardened steels. It is a single-end, centercutting design with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, giving machinists full plunge and side-milling capability from one tool.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations and increase tool life on finished surfaces. At 6 inches overall length with a 3.375-inch length of cut, it handles deep-cavity and long-reach operations without sacrificing rigidity. Variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. Micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface footage than standard carbide grades. This tool is appropriate for job shops, aerospace component machining, die and mold work, and precision part manufacturing.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 1-inch straight shank end mill with ER or side-lock toolholding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool. Use a calibrated torque wrench on set-screw or collet holders to avoid shank damage; consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate flute wear and degrade surface finish.
