The ACCUPRO 12178671 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride), it delivers strong wear resistance and heat tolerance at elevated cutting speeds. The tool features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 5 spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle. A variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. This end mill is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into material as well as cut laterally. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, mold-and-die, and general metalworking environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and other hard materials where corner edge integrity and surface finish are critical. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life compared to a sharp-corner end mill. Typical applications include profile milling, slotting, and contouring where a defined fillet radius is required on the finished part. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining center spindle configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank tool holder or collet.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Secure the 1/2 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before mounting. Verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters in the CNC program are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before initiating a cut.
