The ACCUPRO 12178670 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cut edge and extends tool life. The 5-flute geometry paired with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and improved surface finish. An AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance, making this end mill well suited to high-speed dry or near-dry cutting conditions. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC machining centers are the primary installers of this tool.
This end mill is intended for use in milling operations that require a tight corner radius on part features, including pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional profiling and slotting. Its 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders common to vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments. The micrograin carbide substrate supports use in hard steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and similar materials where rigidity and edge retention are critical.
Designed for use with 3/8 inch ER collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. No specific machine model compatibility was stated by the manufacturer for this part number.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet bore and shank for chips or wear before seating the tool. Do not exceed the manufacturer recommended depths of cut or spindle speeds for this tool diameter and substrate.
