The ACCUPRO 12178647 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, 5 flutes, and an AlTiN coating for extended tool life at elevated temperatures. The flutes run in a right-hand spiral at a 40-degree helix angle, and the tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch overall length, this end mill suits CNC machining centers and manual mills in tool rooms, production shops, and job shops. It is sized for finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and hardened materials.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, and contoured profiles where a small corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations and improve surface finish. The 5-flute geometry increases feed rates compared to standard 4-flute designs, making it appropriate for high-efficiency milling passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration is standard for vertical machining centers. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production or tool-and-die environments will find this tool fits common 1/8 inch collet and end mill holders.
Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills that accept 1/8 inch shank tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matched to the 1/8 inch shank diameter and torque the retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the shank and collet bore for debris or damage before seating the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning any cut.
