The ACCUPRO 12178620 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it offers high rigidity and edge retention compared to high-speed steel tooling. The cutter runs a 3/4 inch diameter with a 3-1/4 inch length of cut, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in deeper cavities. A 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This is a centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into workpiece material. Machinists and tool-and-die shops running CNC vertical mills or machining centers are the primary users of this end mill.
This long-series end mill fits production and job-shop environments where standard-reach tooling cannot access deep features. The 6 inch overall length and 3-1/4 inch length of cut make it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, tall workpiece profiling, and applications that require extended reach beyond what a stub or standard-length end mill provides. The uncoated finish keeps regrinding straightforward and is a common choice for non-ferrous metals, plastics, and softer ferrous alloys where a coating is not required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills with ER or straight-shank collet systems accepting a 3/4 inch shank. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth-of-cut parameters against the workpiece material before use.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-setter using a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for 3/4 inch shank tooling. Ensure the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the recommended gauge-line depth. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Avoid side-loading or torquing the shank beyond the tool holder manufacturer specifications to prevent shank damage or runout.
