The ACCUPRO 12178584 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and engineered plastics. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it holds tighter tolerances and resists edge breakdown better than standard-grade carbide. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating reduces friction and improves heat resistance at the cutting edge. With a 3/16 inch diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and 3-inch overall length, this is a long-series tool suited for slots, pockets, and profiles that require extended reach. Three flutes with a 40-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a strong core cross-section. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill fits standard applications where a 3/16 inch diameter cutting tool is required in a long-length configuration. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC spindle rotation. The 1 inch to 1.25 inch length-of-cut range and 3-inch OAL give clearance for deeper features that standard-length end mills cannot reach without tool holder interference. Typical uses include slot milling, profiling, and ramping operations in steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as a long-series replacement-style square end mill for standard 3/16 inch collet chucks, ER collets, or set-screw tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-holding specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the minimum insertion depth recommended for the holder type to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the tool for edge chipping before each use — carbide end mills are brittle and should not be dropped or clamped unevenly.
