The ACCUPRO 12177644 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, deep-cavity work, and angled walls in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5-degree taper angle per side with a 1/8 inch small end diameter and a 1/16 inch nose radius, making it well suited for finishing passes where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle provides efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity during cut. The uncoated micrograin carbide construction delivers consistent edge sharpness across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC programmers working in tool and die, mold making, and aerospace component shops are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is used in CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling applications where tapered walls or drafted surfaces must be machined to finished dimensions in a single tool path. The ball end geometry allows it to blend smoothly into 3D contoured surfaces. The 7/16 inch shank diameter and 4 inch overall length provide adequate reach for deep-cavity work without excessive deflection. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry where required. Typical applications include mold cavities, core pins, electrodes, and complex aerospace profiles requiring consistent taper geometry.
Designed as a standard taper shank ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 7/16 inch round shank with a collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the 7/16 inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut to avoid premature edge wear or breakage.
