The ACCUPRO 12177596 is a tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring a controlled taper geometry and a spherical cutting end. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool offers high rigidity and wear resistance suitable for profiling, contouring, and finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The small end diameter measures 5/64 inches, the shank diameter is 1/8 inch, and the length of cut is 1/2 inch. A 2-degree taper angle per side produces a gentle, consistent draft on profiled walls. With 3 right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, the tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes at the cutting zone.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, toolroom mills, and precision die and mold work where tapered wall geometry is required. The ball end profile allows blending of 3D contoured surfaces without leaving sharp transitions. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for use on aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous materials, as well as light steel applications where lubrication is applied. The 2-1/4 inch overall length provides adequate reach for moderate-depth cavity work without sacrificing rigidity. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, die shop, and production environments.
Designed as a standard shank end mill compatible with 1/8 inch collets, ER collet chucks, and precision toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Install into a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for runout before use; excessive runout accelerates wear and reduces surface finish quality. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for carbide end mills in the material being cut, and apply cutting fluid or mist coolant as appropriate for the workpiece material.
