The ACCUPRO 12177572 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, angled walls, and complex 3D profiles. The ball end geometry produces smooth, accurate radii, while the 1-degree taper per side allows controlled draft angles in die, mold, and finish-machining work. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool holds a sharper edge longer than standard carbide grades and handles the rigidity demands of tight-tolerance cuts. It runs three right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle, improving chip evacuation and reducing heat buildup at the cutting zone. The uncoated finish suits shops that prefer to apply their own coatings or work with softer materials where coating adhesion is not critical.
This end mill fits CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and multi-axis platforms where tapered profiles and fine-finish passes are required. Typical applications include mold cavity finishing, core detail work, engraving, and angled pocket milling in aluminum, brass, plastics, and softer steels. The 1/8-inch small diameter and 1/2-inch length of cut make it well suited for narrow channels and tight-corner finish work where larger tools cannot reach. The 3/16-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and tool holders common to most CNC setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard collet or end mill holders accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an energy-isolated state before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the 3/16-inch shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before starting a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
