The ACCUPRO 12177425 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide, this tool features 6 spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle and a right-hand cut and flute direction, delivering aggressive chip evacuation and a smooth finish. The 5/8-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 5/8-inch shank, offering a rigid, low-runout setup. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material without a pre-drilled start hole. This end mill is supplied uncoated and is suited for machinists and toolroom operators working on manual or CNC mills where a high-flute-count finishing tool is required.
This end mill is used in general-purpose and production milling applications across job shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing facilities. The 6-flute configuration is well suited for finishing passes, profiling, and light slotting in steels, stainless alloys, and aluminum where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. The 1-5/8-inch length of cut and 3-1/2-inch overall length provide adequate reach for most standard workholding setups without sacrificing rigidity.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or upgrade for standard 5/8-inch shank square end mill applications on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills with compatible R8, CAT, BT, or collet-style toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked before toolchanging. Ensure the shank is clean and seated fully in the toolholder collet or end mill holder, torquing the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the material being machined, as overloading a 6-flute tool in deep slotting can cause breakage.
