The ACCUPRO 12177424 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. With a 0.5000-inch cutting diameter, 2-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle, this tool delivers aggressive chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in harder materials. The six-flute configuration increases feed rates and improves surface finish compared to standard four-flute tools. An AlTiN finish provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and hardened alloys. This end mill is used by machinists in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms running CNC vertical or horizontal milling operations.
This end mill suits applications in ferrous alloys, hardened steels, and high-temp materials where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. The single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry are standard for conventional and climb milling on CNC machining centers. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, giving operators flexibility in pocket milling and slot work without a pre-drilled start hole. No extended reach or chipbreaker features are present, making this tool best suited for standard-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations within its 2-inch depth of cut range.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 1/2-inch shank square end mills used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines with ER, R8, or equivalent collet systems accepting a 0.5000-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended grip depth and torque the retention hardware per the tool-holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to confirm proper seating and avoid premature tool wear.
