The ACCUPRO 12177414 is a 6-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length with a matching 3/8 inch shank diameter. The AlTiN coating provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures, extending tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. A 45-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The micrograin carbide substrate supports high-speed feeds and speeds across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill suits side milling, slotting, and finishing passes in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where a tight diameter tolerance is required. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding operational flexibility. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles. The +0.000/-0.002 inch mill diameter tolerance and -0.0001/-0.0004 inch shank diameter tolerance support close-tolerance fits in collet chucks and end mill holders.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended gauge-line depth in the holder and torque the retention hardware per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut; excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and reduce dimensional accuracy.
