The ACCUPRO 12177146 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in metal cutting, tool and die, and general machining applications. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length, placing it in the long-reach category. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers rigidity and edge retention suited for dry cutting or use with cutting fluids on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the typical end users.
This end mill is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting in a wide range of materials. The 4-1/2 inch reach length makes it appropriate for deep-cavity milling, workpiece features with extended reach requirements, and applications where standard-length tools cannot access the cut zone. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC mill setups. The spiral flute design with no chipbreaker keeps the tool profile clean for finish-quality passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for standard 7/16 inch collet or end mill holder setups on CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring a long-reach, 4-flute square end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style holder, ensuring the full shank engagement depth recommended by the tooling system manufacturer. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material.
