The ACCUPRO 12176981 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) finish, this tool delivers excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance in high-speed cutting environments. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle with spiral flutes oriented in a left-hand direction. The right-hand cutting geometry and centercutting capability allow for both peripheral and plunge milling. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in steel, stainless, and similar alloys will find this end mill suited to production and precision work alike.
This end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and CNC mills. Its 5/8 inch shank diameter and 3-1/2 inch overall length make it a standard-reach tool appropriate for most common setups where extended reach is not required. The four-flute configuration balances material removal rate with surface finish quality, making it suitable for finishing and moderate roughing passes. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in ferrous materials, particularly in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions where heat buildup is a concern.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for milling setups requiring a 5/8 inch diameter, 5/8 inch shank, solid carbide square end mill in ER collet chucks, end mill holders, or similar 5/8 inch bore toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by machinist or toolroom personnel. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping to verify concentricity within acceptable limits. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and initiating cutting passes.
