The ACCUPRO 12176809 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. This single-end tool features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch shank diameter with a 2 inch overall length. The three-flute, stub-length configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and TiCN coating provides efficient chip evacuation and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting design allows for plunge milling in addition to conventional peripheral and slot milling. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for stub-length milling where rigidity and reduced deflection are priorities. The coarse pitch flute spacing and right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slotting, and pocket milling in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The TiCN finish increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, making it appropriate for higher-speed or higher-feed dry and semi-dry cutting strategies.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar machine tools accepting a 5/16 inch straight shank via collet or end mill holder.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with speeds, feeds, and workholding practices for carbide end mills. Secure the shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder to the appropriate torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is found. Follow machine guarding requirements and use appropriate eye and chip protection at all times during operation.
