The ACCUPRO 11625-01T is a thread forming tap designed for producing 8-32 UNC internal threads in blind holes without cutting chips. Rather than removing material, it displaces and cold-forms the workpiece metal, producing stronger threads with a superior surface finish. Built from powdered metal high-speed steel (PM-HSS) and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), this tap delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup during high-cycle tapping operations. The bottoming chamfer style with 2.5 chamfered threads allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. It carries a Class of Fit 2B with a Thread Limit of H5, suitable for standard-tolerance internal thread applications.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading in ductile metals and alloys where a chipless forming process is preferred over conventional cutting taps. The right-hand thread direction and single oil groove support consistent lubrication during the forming cycle. With a tapping depth of 0.75 inches and a thread length of 0.47 inches, it is well suited for short-to-medium depth blind hole applications in production machining, maintenance, and repair environments. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.

Thread forming taps require adequate lubrication — use a quality tapping fluid or cutting compound rated for the workpiece material before each use. Ensure the correct drill size for thread forming (typically larger than a cutting tap pilot hole) is used to avoid tap breakage or oversized threads. Operate at appropriate spindle speeds for the material being tapped and avoid reversing under load without fully disengaging. This tool should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping practices.
