The AC ZINCS acz-3/8 is a zinc sacrificial anode designed to protect metal components in residential and light commercial air conditioning and heat pump systems from galvanic corrosion. Sold individually, this anode works by corroding in place of more costly system metals, including aluminum fins, copper piping, and galvanized steel. Zinc sits lower on the galvanic scale than these materials, making it the preferred target for electrochemical corrosion. The result is extended service life for the surrounding components without chemical treatments or ongoing maintenance beyond periodic anode inspection and replacement.
This product is suited for use on air conditioner and heat pump assemblies where dissimilar metals are in contact and galvanic corrosion is a concern. The sacrificial anode principle is well established in marine and plumbing applications and applies directly to HVAC equipment exposed to moisture, coastal air, or high-humidity environments. HVAC technicians and service professionals add this anode to the system assembly to shift corrosion activity away from functional parts.
Designed as a sacrificial anode for residential and light commercial air conditioner and heat pump systems where galvanic corrosion protection of metal components is required.
Installation is performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out power to the unit before beginning any service work. The anode should be secured to the assembly in direct contact with the metals it is intended to protect, following the manufacturer's guidance for mounting location. Inspect the anode at each service visit and replace when significantly corroded to maintain active protection.
