The ABI FOUNDRY 617 is a service weight cast iron 22.5-degree bend fitting used in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. It connects with a 3-inch hub on one end and a 3-inch spigot on the other, allowing for directional changes in gravity-flow drainage lines. Cast iron construction provides durability and resistance to heat, fire, and mechanical impact. This fitting is domestically produced and is installed by licensed plumbers in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial DWV systems where a gradual 22.5-degree directional change is required. The hub-by-spigot configuration integrates into service weight cast iron piping systems using standard lead-and-oakum or compression gasket joints. It is commonly installed in underground or above-ground drain lines where code requires cast iron, including multifamily residential, commercial buildings, and applications with fire-rated assembly requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for service weight cast iron DWV piping systems using 3-inch hub and spigot connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off and isolate the drainage system before cutting into existing lines. Joints may be made using compression gaskets or traditional lead-and-oakum methods depending on system requirements and local code. Handle cast iron fittings carefully to avoid cracking from impact or improper support during assembly.
