The ABI FOUNDRY 1966 is a service-weight cast iron combination wye and 1/8 bend fitting designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. This long-turn fitting connects a branch line to a main drain line while simultaneously providing directional change, reducing the need for a separate fitting. At 2 inches nominal size with a spigot x hub x hub end configuration, it accepts standard cast iron hub connections on two ends and inserts into a hub on the third. Licensed plumbers install this fitting in residential and light commercial DWV rough-in applications where long-turn flow characteristics are required. Domestic manufacture and cast iron construction deliver the durability expected in below-grade and in-wall drain installations.
This fitting is suited for gravity-flow DWV systems in residential new construction and remodel work. The combination wye and 1/8 bend configuration is commonly used at the base of a stack or along a horizontal drain run where a branch connection and a change in direction must be achieved at a single point. The spigot inlet allows the fitting to insert directly into an existing hub, while both hub outlets accept standard spigot-end cast iron pipe or fittings. Rated for service from 32 to 212 degrees F, it performs across the full temperature range of typical drain water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2 inch service-weight cast iron DWV piping systems using hub-and-spigot connections.
Installation of cast iron DWV fittings is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Hub-and-spigot joints are secured using compression gaskets or lead-and-oakum packing depending on local code acceptance. Ensure the line is fully drained and depressurized before cutting into an existing drain run. Support the fitting and adjoining pipe per code-required hanger spacing to prevent joint stress.
