The ABI FOUNDRY 1548 is a 4-inch nominal, double wye, no-hub cast iron drainage fitting used to branch a single drain line into two separate runs at a wye angle. Cast iron construction provides long-term durability and resistance to the thermal cycling, heavy loads, and corrosive drain environments typical in commercial and residential DWV systems. At 9.5 inches in length, the fitting connects using standard no-hub couplings, making it compatible with no-hub cast iron pipe systems without the need for threaded or hubbed joints. Licensed plumbers install this type of fitting as part of below-grade or above-grade drain, waste, and vent rough-in work.
This fitting is appropriate for residential and commercial drain, waste, and vent applications where a single horizontal or vertical drain line must branch into two outlets. Double wye configurations are commonly used in stack assemblies, floor drain tie-ins, and multi-fixture drain runs. The no-hub end style allows for fast connection using approved no-hub band clamps, reducing installation time compared to hubbed lead-and-oakum systems. This fitting is typically installed by licensed plumbers during rough-in on new construction and remodel projects.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 4-inch no-hub cast iron DWV piping systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off all upstream flow and verify the line is depressurized before cutting into an existing drain system. Use properly torqued, code-approved no-hub band clamps to secure the fitting at both ends. Do not use this fitting to connect to hubbed or threaded cast iron pipe without appropriate transition couplings.
