The ABI FOUNDRY 1331 is a service weight cast iron sanitary tee designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems in residential and commercial construction. This 4-inch fitting connects using a spigot inlet and hub outlets, providing a secure, leak-resistant joint when properly leaded and caulked or coupled with a no-hub connector. Cast iron construction delivers the durability and noise-dampening characteristics that licensed plumbers specify for multi-story and high-demand drain systems. The 1331 is domestically manufactured and carries a temperature rating of 32 to 212 degrees F, making it suitable for a full range of sanitary drain applications.
This sanitary tee is used in soil and waste stacks where a branch connection is required at a 90-degree takeoff from the main run. Typical applications include connecting lavatory, sink, and floor drain branch lines to a 4-inch vertical or horizontal DWV stack. The spigot x hub end configuration allows it to integrate into standard service weight cast iron piping layouts. It is installed by licensed plumbers in new construction, renovation, and drain system repair projects in both residential and light commercial buildings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 4-inch service weight cast iron DWV piping systems using spigot and hub joinery methods.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and ensure the drain system is depressurized and empty before cutting into an existing stack. Hub joints require proper oakum packing and molten lead or approved compression gaskets; no-hub couplings may be used where permitted by local code. Support the fitting per code-required hanger spacing for cast iron pipe to prevent stress on joints.
