The ABB SU201M-K3 is a single-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) rated for 3 amps with a K-curve trip characteristic and a 10 kA interrupting capacity. It is listed under UL 489 and rated for use at 480 volts and 277 volts, making it suitable for both line-to-line and line-to-neutral applications in North American electrical distribution systems. The K-curve characteristic means it tolerates higher inrush currents before tripping, which is appropriate for loads with significant startup surge. Licensed electricians install this device in panelboards, load centers, and control panel assemblies where branch-circuit overcurrent protection is required.
This MCB is used in commercial and light industrial electrical distribution applications where a single-pole breaker is needed on a 480V or 277V system. Typical installations include lighting branch circuits, control circuits, and other single-phase loads that require UL 489 listed overcurrent protection. Its K-curve rating makes it well suited to motor control or transformer-fed circuits where high inrush current at startup would otherwise cause nuisance tripping on a standard B or C curve device.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation single-pole MCB for UL 489 listed panelboard and control panel applications requiring a K-curve breaker at 480V or 277V.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the panel or distribution assembly completely before installing or replacing the breaker. Verify that the bus system and panelboard are rated and approved for use with DIN-rail or snap-in MCBs of this type before installation. Do not exceed the breaker ampere rating when sizing branch-circuit conductors.
