The ABB 641 is a 1-gang adjustable floor box designed for below-grade electrical rough-in in concrete or wood-frame floor applications. Built under the Steel City line, this floor box accepts standard single-gang wiring devices and is field-adjustable to accommodate finished floor depth variations. Licensed electricians install this unit during rough-in, before flooring materials are poured or laid. The adjustable design reduces the need for secondary trim components and supports clean, code-compliant device termination at floor level.
The 641 is suited for residential and light commercial installations where floor-mounted receptacles or low-voltage inserts are required. Typical applications include open-plan office spaces, living areas, and commercial floors where wall outlets are not practical. The adjustable construction allows the installer to set the box height to match the finished floor surface, whether tile, hardwood, or polished concrete.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction floor box for single-gang electrical device installations in concrete slab or wood-frame floor assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 314 and local amendments governing floor boxes. Power must be fully de-energized at the panel before any wiring connections are made. Set box elevation during rough-in to account for the finished floor material thickness so the cover assembly sits flush at grade. Do not over-tighten the adjustable collar threads, as this may distort the box body and affect cover fitment.
