The ABB 593613/4 is a steel handy box extension ring designed to increase the interior volume of a standard single-gang handy box. It attaches directly to the front of an existing handy box, adding 1-7/8 inches of depth to accommodate additional wiring, devices, or splices that would otherwise exceed the box fill capacity required by the NEC. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting during rough-in or device installation when box fill calculations demand more cubic-inch capacity. The unit ships ready to mount and is constructed for use in standard residential and light commercial electrical rough-in applications.
This extension ring is suited for use with standard single-gang handy boxes in residential, multi-family, and light commercial electrical systems. It is commonly installed when upgrading wiring, adding circuits, or replacing devices where the original box does not provide sufficient fill capacity. The 3/4 inch knockout configuration supports standard conduit entries, making it compatible with typical EMT and rigid conduit installations.
Designed as an OEM-style extension fitting for use with standard single-gang handy boxes in residential and light commercial electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage with a meter before working on or near the box. Secure the extension ring firmly to the existing handy box before pulling conductors or installing devices. Do not exceed the calculated box fill capacity after adding the extension.
