The ABB 3112 is a straight, insulated tite-bite connector designed for terminating metal-clad (MC) and armored cable (AC) at electrical enclosures and junction boxes. Built from steel with a zinc plating finish and fitted with a nylon insulating throat, the 3112 accepts a trade size of 1/2 inch and fits a 1/2 inch knockout opening. It is rated for cable outside diameters ranging from 0.670 to 0.920 inches. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting during rough-in and finish wiring on both commercial and residential projects where code-compliant MC or AC terminations are required.
This connector is suited for standard 1/2 inch knockout penetrations in load centers, panelboards, junction boxes, and electrical enclosures. The straight body style is the most common orientation used when cable runs approach the box perpendicularly. The nylon insulating throat protects cable conductors from abrasion at the point of entry, which is a common code requirement under the National Electrical Code (NEC) for armored and metal-clad cable terminations.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 1/2 inch trade size metal-clad and armored cable installations terminating at standard 1/2 inch knockout enclosures per NEC requirements.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize and lock out the panel or enclosure before beginning work. Insert the connector body through the knockout opening, secure the locknut firmly by hand and finish with a strap wrench or locknut tool — do not over-tighten to the point of distorting the enclosure wall. Verify the nylon insulating throat is fully seated before pulling conductors through.
