The ABB 201 is a 4-inch square electrical extension ring with a 1/2-inch raise, used to increase the interior volume of a flush-mounted square electrical box. Electricians install this ring when box fill calculations require additional cubic-inch capacity to meet NEC requirements. The ring mounts directly to a standard 4-inch square box, extending the box face outward by 1/2 inch to accommodate more conductors, devices, or splices. It is a standard component in residential and commercial rough-in and finish electrical work.
This extension ring is suited for use in junction box and device box installations where conductors or splices exceed the capacity of a single-gang or multi-gang square box. Common applications include panel feeders, branch circuit junction points, and device rough-in locations in wall, ceiling, or floor installations. Sold in carton quantities of 50 units, making it practical for new construction and retrofit projects requiring multiple boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment extension ring for 4-inch square electrical boxes used in residential and commercial electrical installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize all circuits and verify with a voltage tester before working on or near any electrical box. The ring should be secured to the existing square box using the manufacturer-provided mounting tabs or screws before pulling conductors. Do not exceed the combined box fill cubic-inch rating per NEC Article 314 after adding the extension ring volume.
