The A.Y. MCDONALD 5426-042 is a brass CTS push-connect long slip repair coupling designed for fast, tool-free joining of copper tubing system pipe in water service and plumbing repair applications. The push-on connection eliminates the need for soldering, threading, or crimping, making it a practical choice for emergency repairs or tight-access installations. At 1/2 inch by 4 inches, it provides adequate engagement length to bridge damaged or cut-out sections of CTS pipe. Plumbers and water service technicians are the primary installers of this fitting.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where CTS pipe is present. Its slip design allows the fitting to be pushed fully onto one pipe end and then drawn back to span a repair section, a common technique when replacing a damaged inline segment. The 4-inch body length provides enough overlap to secure both pipe ends without requiring additional couplings or a union.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for 1/2 inch CTS copper tubing system plumbing repairs in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure completely before cutting out the damaged section and installing this coupling. Ensure pipe ends are cut cleanly and squarely, deburred, and wiped clean before insertion to achieve a proper push-connect seal. Do not exceed the pressure and temperature ratings specified by the manufacturer for this fitting type.
