The A Y MCDONALD 4215-194 is a manually operated, low pressure plug valve with integral check, designed for natural gas and propane gas service on residential and light commercial house piping systems. The brass body construction suits indoor installations between the meter outlet and the appliance inlet connection. Rated at 2 psi, it accepts 3/4 inch FNPT connections and is operated by a lever handle actuator for quick quarter-turn shutoff. This valve is built for licensed plumbers and gas fitters performing appliance hookup or service work on low-pressure gas piping systems.
This valve is intended for indoor gas piping installations at ambient temperatures between 32 degrees F and 125 degrees F. It is positioned in the gas supply line between the meter outlet and the inlet connection of the gas appliance, making it a standard component in residential gas rough-in and service work. The integrated check function adds a layer of backflow prevention within the same body, reducing the number of fittings needed in the assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation plug valve for indoor low-pressure natural gas and propane gas piping systems with 3/4 inch FNPT connections, per Series 10598.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and all applicable local codes. Shut off gas supply at the meter or upstream isolation point before installation and verify zero pressure at the valve location before threading connections. Use appropriate thread sealant rated for gas service on all FNPT joints. After installation, test all connections for leaks using an approved leak detection solution before returning the system to service.
