The A Y MCDONALD 4212-126 is a manually operated low-pressure plug valve with integrated check, designed for use on natural gas and propane gas piping systems. The brass body and lever handle construction make it suitable for indoor residential gas piping installed between the meter outlet and the appliance inlet connection. It is rated for pressures up to 2 psi and is intended for use at ambient temperatures between 32 degrees F and 125 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters are the typical installers for this type of valve in residential house piping applications.
This valve is applied on indoor house piping systems serving natural gas or propane appliances. It installs in the low-pressure segment of the gas supply line, positioned between the gas meter outlet and the inlet connection of the appliance being served. The FNPT end style and 1-1/4 inch nominal size make it appropriate for standard residential gas branch piping. The lever handle provides a clear open/closed indication, which supports both routine service and emergency shutoff procedures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation plug valve for indoor low-pressure natural gas and propane piping systems with 1-1/4 inch FNPT connections operating at 2 psi or below.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply at the meter before beginning any work on the piping system. Use appropriate thread sealant listed for gas service on all FNPT connections. Pressure-test the completed assembly per local code requirements before restoring gas flow and lighting any appliance.
