The 3M MH10BCX is a heat shrink insulated butt connector designed for making reliable, weather-resistant wire splices in electrical wiring applications. Built with an electrolytic tough pitch (ETP) copper barrel and tin plating, this connector delivers solid conductivity and long-term corrosion resistance. The adhesive-lined polyolefin heat shrink tubing creates a sealed connection that resists water and salt intrusion once crimped and shrunk. It is rated at 600 volts for building wiring and 1000 volts for signs, fixtures, and luminaires, with a maximum temperature rating of 221 degrees F. Electricians and electrical contractors install this connector where a sealed, durable splice is required.
This connector is suited for residential and commercial electrical work, sign wiring, fixture and luminaire installations, and any application where moisture or salt exposure is a concern. It accepts 12 to 10 AWG conductors and is sold in a 25-piece carton, making it appropriate for both service calls and new construction work. The yellow color coding corresponds to the 12-10 AWG wire size range, allowing fast identification during installation.
Designed as a standard heat shrink butt splice connector for 12 to 10 AWG copper conductors in building wiring, sign, fixture, and luminaire applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any wire connections. Use a calibrated ratchet crimping tool appropriate for the connector size, then apply controlled heat evenly around the barrel until the heat shrink tubing fully contracts and adhesive flows from both ends to confirm a complete seal. Do not use an open flame to shrink the tubing.
