The 3M KP86398 is a coated abrasive quick-change disc designed for use with Roloc TR and Type R attachment systems. It features a ceramic abrasive grain bonded to a polyester cloth backing, making it well suited for aggressive stock removal and surface blending on metal. At 120 grit (fine grade), it delivers a consistent scratch pattern for finishing passes before moving to finer media. Rated to 20,000 RPM, it is built for high-speed right-angle grinders and die grinders commonly used in metal fabrication, welding prep, and maintenance applications. Each disc measures 3 inches in diameter.

This disc is used in light to medium metalworking operations including weld seam blending, edge deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The orange ceramic grain provides a self-sharpening cutting action that extends disc life compared to aluminum oxide alternatives. The polyester cloth backing resists tearing under load and flexes to conform to slightly contoured surfaces. Installation Notes

Installation and disc changes should be performed with the grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source. Thread the disc onto a compatible Roloc TR backup pad by pressing and turning until the button locks securely. Do not exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating of the disc. Inspect each disc for tears, edge damage, or delamination before mounting, and replace any disc that shows visible defects.
