The 3M IT3.000BK48IN-S is a heavy-wall, heat shrink cable sleeve engineered for high-voltage cable protection in demanding electrical installations. Made from cross-linked polyolefin with a 3:1 shrink ratio, this sleeve expands to a minimum diameter of 3 inches and recovers to a maximum diameter of 1 inch, covering cable sizes from 600 to 1250 KCMIL. Rated for 600 volts and a temperature range of -55 to 110 degrees C, it delivers reliable insulation, moisture exclusion, and mechanical protection. Licensed electricians and utility crews specify this sleeve for underground, overhead, and indoor applications where a thick-wall solution is required.
This sleeve is suited for residential service entry points, commercial switchgear installations, and utility distribution work. Approved applications include insulating secondary splices, service relocation, dig-in repairs, and sheath repairs. Its cross-linked polyolefin construction makes it equally effective indoors, outdoors, or in overhead configurations. Each case contains 5 sleeves, each 48 inches in length, giving crews enough material to handle multiple repairs or splices from a single stock unit. The black color also aids UV resistance in exposed overhead runs.
Designed for use with 600 to 1250 KCMIL cables with an outer diameter of 1.2 to 2.25 inches. Suitable for indoor, outdoor, and overhead applications including secondary splice insulation, service relocation, dig-in repairs, and sheath repairs as specified by 3M Series ITCSN product documentation.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize and lockout-tagout all circuits before applying the sleeve. A heat gun or torch delivering uniform heat should be used to shrink the sleeve evenly from the center outward to prevent air pockets. Follow NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements for insulation ratings and splice protection applicable to the circuit voltage and environment.
