The 3M IT1.100BK9IN-L is a heavy-wall, heat shrink cable sleeve rated for 600 volts and designed to protect electrical cables in demanding indoor, outdoor, and overhead environments. Constructed from cross-linked polyolefin with a 3:1 shrink ratio, this sleeve shrinks at 250 degrees F to form a tight, durable seal over cable diameters ranging from 0.4 to 0.88 inches. The minimum expanded diameter is 1.1 inches and the maximum recovered diameter is 0.37 inches. At 9 inches in length, each sleeve provides substantial coverage for splice insulation, sheath repairs, and service relocation work. Licensed electricians and utility technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This sleeve is suited for a broad range of electrical repair and protection tasks including insulating secondary splices, dig-in repairs, sheath repairs, and relocation of service conductors. It accommodates cable sizes from 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG, making it practical across residential and commercial service work as well as utility and underground applications. The black color and UV-resistant material make it appropriate for exposed outdoor installations. Each case contains 100 pieces, supporting high-volume field or shop use.
Designed for use with cable sizes 2 AWG through 4/0 AWG with outer diameters between 0.4 and 0.88 inches. Approved for indoor, outdoor, and overhead applications including secondary splice insulation, dig-in repairs, sheath repairs, and service relocation per UL 486-D and CSA standards.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the sleeve. Apply heat evenly using an approved heat gun, working from the center outward to prevent air pockets and ensure full adhesion. Do not use an open flame as the heat source, as uneven or excessive heat can compromise the sleeve integrity.
