The 3M IT0.800BK9IN-S is a heavy-wall, heat shrink cable sleeve designed to insulate, protect, and seal electrical cables and splices in demanding field conditions. Built from cross-linked polyolefin with a 3:1 shrink ratio, this sleeve provides a rugged barrier against moisture, abrasion, puncture, acids, and alkalies. Each sleeve measures 9 inches in length with a minimum expanded diameter of 0.8 inches and a maximum recovered diameter of 0.2 inches, covering cable sizes from 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Rated to 600 volts and approved to UL 486-D and CSA standards, this sleeve is suited for both indoor and outdoor electrical work including overhead applications. Cases include 25 pieces.
This sleeve is used in residential, commercial, and utility electrical work where durable cable protection is required. Typical applications include insulating secondary splices, sheath repairs, dig-in repairs, and service relocation. Its UV resistance and weather-resistant construction make it appropriate for outdoor and overhead installations. The 3:1 shrink ratio means a minimum number of sizes covers the full range of conductor sizes in the AWG 8 to 1/0 range, reducing the number of SKUs a technician needs on the truck.
Designed for use with cables ranging from 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG with outer diameters between 0.24 inches and 0.65 inches. Suitable for secondary splice insulation, sheath repairs, dig-in repairs, and service relocation in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. Before applying the sleeve, de-energize and lock out the circuit following established LOTO procedures. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun, working from the center outward to prevent air entrapment beneath the sleeve. Do not use an open flame as uneven heat can cause incomplete recovery or damage the sleeve material.
