The 3M IT0.800BK48IN-L is a heavy-wall, heat shrink cable sleeve designed for insulating, protecting, and repairing electrical cables rated up to 600 volts. Constructed from cross-linked polyolefin with a 3:1 shrink ratio, it delivers a tight, reliable seal over a wide range of cable diameters. The minimum expanded diameter is 0.8 inches and the maximum recovered diameter is 0.2 inches, making it suitable for cable sizes from 8 AWG up to 1/0 AWG. At 48 inches in length, each sleeve provides substantial coverage for splices, sheath repairs, and service relocations. Licensed electricians and utility workers are the primary installers of this product.
This sleeve is rated for indoor, outdoor, and overhead use, covering applications that include insulating secondary splices, dig-in repairs, sheath repairs, and relocation of service. The operating temperature range of -67 to 230 degrees F makes it suitable for harsh environmental conditions. Its UV resistance and weather-resistant construction support long-term performance in exposed installations. Cases are packaged with 20 pieces each, making it a practical stocking item for contractors and service crews handling recurring cable repair work.
Suitable for cable sizes 8 to 1/0 AWG with a cable outer diameter range of 0.24 to 0.65 inches. Designed for use in secondary splice insulation, dig-in repairs, sheath repairs, and service relocation applications in both residential and commercial electrical installations.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the sleeve. Use a calibrated heat gun to apply uniform heat along the sleeve from the center outward to prevent air pockets and ensure even shrinkage. Do not use an open flame as direct flame contact can damage the sleeve material and compromise the seal.
