Product Description

The 3M FP1.500BK6IN-P is a thin-wall, flexible polyolefin heat shrink tubing from the FP-301 series, designed to protect wire splices, terminals, and cable bundles in industrial and military-grade wiring applications. Rated to 600 volts with a 2:1 shrink ratio, it expands to a minimum of 1.5 inches in diameter and recovers to a maximum of 0.75 inches, providing a snug, insulating sleeve over conductors and connections. Each piece is 6 inches in length. The tubing carries UL and CSA approvals and is RoHS compliant, making it suitable for work requiring recognized listings and restricted-substance compliance. Electricians, maintenance technicians, and wire harness assemblers routinely use this tubing for conductor insulation, strain relief, and color-coding in demanding environments.

The FP1.500BK6IN-P is suited for a broad range of wiring and insulation tasks in industrial facilities, military and aerospace assemblies, panel wiring, and field service repairs. Its flexible polyolefin construction performs across a temperature range of -55 to 135 degrees C, supporting both indoor and outdoor applications where thermal cycling and mechanical flexing are common. The black color aids in UV resistance considerations and blends with standard wire management practice. Sold in packs of 3 pieces, with 10 packs per case.

Key Features

  • 2:1 shrink ratio with minimum expanded diameter of 1.5 inches and maximum recovered diameter of 0.75 inches
  • Thin-wall flexible polyolefin construction for conformable fit over irregular surfaces
  • 600-volt rating suitable for low-voltage power and control wiring
  • Operating temperature range of -55 to 135 degrees C supports extreme-environment installations
  • Shrinks at 212 degrees F for reliable activation with standard heat guns
  • Tensile strength of 2,400 psi provides durable mechanical protection
  • UL listed, CSA approved, and RoHS compliant

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use heat shrink tubing suitable for wire terminations, splices, and cable bundles in industrial, commercial, and military wiring systems where 1.5-inch expanded diameter thin-wall polyolefin tubing is specified.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by electricians and wire harness technicians using a calibrated heat gun or oven set to deliver even, directed heat around the tubing. De-energize and lock out all circuits before applying heat shrink over live or connected conductors. Apply heat evenly from one end to the other to prevent air pockets or uneven shrinkage. Follow NEC and applicable industry standards for conductor insulation requirements and minimum working voltage ratings in the target application.
