The 3M FP1.000BK48IN-S is a thin-wall, flexible polyolefin heat shrink tubing designed for electrical insulation, bundling, and strain relief in industrial and military-grade wiring applications. It carries a 600-volt rating and a 2:1 shrink ratio, collapsing from a 1-inch minimum expanded diameter down to a 0.5-inch maximum recovered diameter. At 0.035 inches wall thickness, it delivers reliable dielectric protection without adding significant bulk to a harness or termination. Licensed electricians, MRO technicians, and field service pros use this tubing where a clean, durable sleeve is needed over conductors, splices, and connector backshells.
This tubing is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work as well as aerospace and defense wiring applications. Each piece runs 48 inches in length, making it practical for sleeving longer wire runs or cutting down to size for multiple terminations. The black color aids in UV resistance and blends with standard cable management schemes. It activates at a shrink temperature of 212 degrees F, making it compatible with standard heat guns used in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style thin-wall heat shrink sleeve for general electrical wiring, splices, and connector insulation in industrial and military wiring applications where a 2:1 shrink ratio and 600-volt rating are required.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified wiring technicians following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying any heat shrink to conductors or splices. Use a calibrated heat gun set to a temperature sufficient to reach 212 degrees F at the tubing surface, moving the gun evenly along the length to achieve uniform recovery and avoid scorching. Do not use an open flame, as uneven heat can cause incomplete recovery or material damage.
