The 3M FP0.250BK6IN-P is a thin-wall, flexible polyolefin heat shrink tubing from 3M's FP-301 series, rated for 600 volts and designed for electrical insulation, bundling, and protection of wire terminations and connections. It features a 2:1 shrink ratio, a minimum expanded diameter of 0.25 inches, and a maximum recovered diameter of 0.125 inches. The 6-inch length and black color make it well suited for color-coded wire identification and insulation work in industrial, commercial, and military-grade electrical assemblies. Electricians and wire harness technicians are the primary installers.
This tubing applies across a wide range of electrical and electronics applications requiring reliable insulation and mechanical protection. Common uses include termination insulation on butt splices, ring terminals, and exposed conductors in control panels, switchgear, and field wiring. The thin wall construction allows fast heat activation and a clean, low-profile recovered profile. The FP-301 series is recognized for balancing electrical performance, chemical resistance, and physical durability across industrial and military applications.
Designed as an OEM-style thin-wall heat shrink solution for electrical conductors, terminals, and splices with an outside diameter at or below 0.25 inches where a 2:1 shrink ratio is appropriate.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified wire harness technicians. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink tubing to any conductor or termination. Use a calibrated heat gun set to the appropriate temperature to achieve full, even recovery without scorching the tubing or adjacent insulation. Follow NEC guidelines for insulation requirements at the voltage and amperage rating of the circuit being serviced.
