The 3M FP0.188CR6IN-P is a thin-wall, flexible polyolefin heat shrink tubing from the FP-301 series, designed for electrical insulation, bundling, and strain relief applications. The tubing ships in a 6-inch length with a 0.187-inch minimum expanded diameter and a 0.093-inch maximum recovered diameter, giving it a 2:1 shrink ratio. It carries a 600-volt rating and a temperature range of -55 to 135 degrees C. Clear color allows visual inspection of the underlying conductor or component after shrinking. This product is sold in packs of 10 pieces and is commonly installed by electricians and electronics technicians.
This tubing is suited for wire splices, terminal insulation, connector backshells, and component marking in both residential and commercial electrical work. The thin-wall construction makes it a practical choice wherever a low-profile sleeve is needed over small-gauge conductors, busbars, or component leads. The clear color is particularly useful when wire labeling or conductor identification must remain visible after the sleeve is applied. UL and CSA approvals make it acceptable on jobs requiring listed materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use heat shrink sleeve for general electrical insulation and wire termination applications where a 3/16-inch, thin-wall, 2:1 shrink-ratio tubing is specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or electronics technicians. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying heat shrink tubing to any live conductor or termination. Apply heat evenly with a heat gun, working from the center outward to prevent trapping air pockets. Avoid open-flame torches, which can scorch or unevenly shrink thin-wall polyolefin tubing.
