The 3M 7012818888 is the DBI-SALA Rollgliss R550 Rescue and Descent Device Kit, a fully automatic controlled descent system designed for rescue and evacuation operations at height. The kit includes a rescue wheel and 1000 ft of 3/8 inch nylon kernmantle super static rope. The R550 supports single-user descents up to 1,640 ft at a maximum load of 310 lbs, and two-user operations up to 575 ft at a combined load of 620 lbs. Rope is configured with connecting hardware at each end of the lifeline, allowing operation in both directions. This device is installed and operated by trained fall protection and rescue professionals working in industrial, construction, and confined space environments.
The R550 kit is suited for controlled descent rescue, evacuation from heights, and assisted rescue scenarios where lifting capability is required. In an assisted rescue, a fallen worker can be attached to the device, raised to allow removal of their fall arrest equipment, then lowered safely to the ground. The rescue wheel included with this kit facilitates smooth rope deployment during active operations. Typical applications include high-rise construction, industrial towers, communication structures, and any work site where workers operate at significant elevation.
